Advanced Placement Exam Reading.  Lincoln, Nebraska.  June 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006.  Appointed by the College Board to apply a standardized scoring rubric to the grading of the six-question free response section of all AP Statistics exams taken by students nationwide.

Cardiovascular Fluids Laboratory, School of Chemical Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology
Atlanta, Georgia (June 1995 - Aug 1995) Georgia Internships & Fellowships for Teachers (GIFT).

§         assisted in research funded by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute that included the study of Mitral and Aortic valve disease and the mathematical modeling of the left heart and artificial valves
§         used Fluid Dynamics Application Program (FIDAP) to simulate various valve geometries on the compute
§         wrote and modified programs in FORTRAN and C++ to run the statistics of ultrasound output from patients
§         used research information to design secondary curriculum materials illustrating the use of mathematics in medical fields


Micro Electronics Research Center (MiRC); Georgia Institute of Technology
Atlanta, Georgia. (June 1994-Aug.1994) Georgia Internships & Fellowships for Teachers (GIFT). 

§         research involved studying the efficiency of hydrogen plasma etching of silicon for use in microchips and semiconductors
§         wrote a program in C to retrieve data from a CAD program then rotate and transform the coordinates for use in different graphics programs
§         information from this research was used to develop curriculum materials for use in middle school and secondary math classes.

§         research involved searching astrophysics circulars and international databases and analyzing data to confirm new x-ray transient stars located by the Vela 5B satellite and other satellite experiments to determine changes in periodicities of recurrent x-ray sources. 
§         A research paper and visual presentation of findings were presented to laboratory researchers and to fellow teachers.

Georgia Performance Standards Training, 2007-2008.  Along with 3 colleagues, conducted multiple training sessions for 24 high school teachers in preparation for the 2008 implementation of the new Mathematics standards for high school.

Using Writing and Rubrics in the High School Math Classroom, 2005.  Presented to high school mathematics teachers.

A Guide to ADD & ADHD and its Impact on Gifted Education, 2000.  West Georgia RESA presentation to elementary, middle, and high school mathematics teachers.
